Dayton coach Shauna Green said Tuesday her team will host South Carolina, which won its first national title in 2017, on Nov. 13. Then on Nov. 26, Dayton will host national powerhouse Connecticut, which won its fourth straight title in 2016.
“I don’t know if that will ever happen again, getting two teams like that,” Green said.
Dayton played at Connecticut on Nov. 22, 2016, in Green’s first season and lost 98-65. The Flyers played at South Carolina last season and lost 65-55.
South Carolina and Connecticut are coached by members of the Basketball Hall of Fame. Dawn Staley, a collegiate star at Virginia and one of the greatest players in WNBA history, has coached the Gamecocks since 2008. Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma has led his program to 11 national titles.
