Brook Simpson, a 5-foot-10 junior guard from Belding High School in Michigan, announced her commitment to the Dayton Flyers on Tuesday.

Simpson is the first player from the class of 2024 class to commit to coach Tamika Williams-Jeter and her staff.

Simpson announced June 7 she received a scholarship offer from Dayton. Navy, McNeese State and Saint Louis were among the other schools to offer her a scholarship this summer. She received offers from Pittsburgh and Western Michigan when she was a freshman.

Simpson visited Dayton on Sept. 17 and posed for photos with the coaching staff in a Dayton uniform.

Simpson averaged 24.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 steals as a sophomore. She was named to the all-state first team in Division II by the Detroit News.

Simpson also excels on the track. She won a Division II state championship in the high jump as a freshman with a record height of 5-10 and also finished third in the 200-meter dash and second in the 400. She suffered a torn ACL this past spring and earned headlines for undergoing a new, less-invasive surgery to repair the knee injury.

Simpson is the third recruit in recent months to commit to Dayton. Coldwater senior Riley Rismiller committed to Dayton on Aug. 12, joining Lauren Pallotta, of Jackson High School in Massillon, in Dayton’s 2023 recruiting class. Pallotta committed on Aug. 5.
