Dayton, Wright State teams honored by NCAA

Seven teams from the University of Dayton and four from Wright State University earned Academic Progress Rate recognition awards from the NCAA on Wednesday.

The NCAA honors teams each year that “demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.” The rates are based on a four-year period: the 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 academic years.

The Dayton teams honored were: women's cross country, football, men's golf, women's golf, softball, men's tennis and women's tennis. The men’s and women’s golf teams have received the award 14 years in a row.

Wright State’s baseball, women's cross country, women's tennis and women's volleyball teams were honored. The women’s volleyball and cross country teams have been honored three years in a row.

Across, the NCAA, 1,328 teams were recognized: 857 women's teams and 471 men's or mixed squads.
