“I want to thank all of you for these amazing two years,” Camara wrote. “It’s been an honor to wear Dayton across my chest. I was able to learn so much about myself. I truly believe that I learned who Toumani Camara is, as a man, on and off the court.
“The opportunity that I was afforded at Dayton changed me in so many positive ways. I will always be grateful to be part of the Flyer family and you will always be a part of my heart and my journey.
“I am ready for what is next for my family and my future. That being said, I have decided to turn pro and declare for the NBA Draft.”
Camara, a 6-foot-8 forward from Brussels, Belgium, played two seasons at Georgia and two at Dayton. He has one more season of eligibility. The 2020-21 season didn’t count against anyone’s eligibility because of the pandemic.
Camara boosted his draft prospects with his play in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament earlier this month. He averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds in three games and made the all-tournament team.
Camara averaged 13.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in his second season at Dayton. He made the All-Atlantic 10 Conference first team and the all-defensive team.
Closing a new chapter in my life. Looking forward to what’s next. #Flyer4ever✈️ pic.twitter.com/W7qw9JLOw7
