Dayton Flyers guard Dwayne Cohill underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee and shared a photo on Twitter of himself in the hospital Wednesday.

“Start of a new journey!!” Cohill wrote. “The road to recovery.”

Cohill then praised the people who have supported him since his injury.

“Just want to thank any and every person who reached out to me over these past few weeks,” Cohill said. “I have been battle tested before, and this is nothing. I can’t wait to kill rehab and get back on the court. Love you Flyer Faithful.”

Cohill suffered the injury in practice Oct. 10, and Dayton announced Oct. 14 he would miss the 2020-21 season. This would have been his junior year on the court. He’ll have two seasons of eligibility remaining when he returns to action in the 2021-22 season.

He was one of the key players off the bench all season and showed improvement in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

Cohill’s teammates also showed their support on social media.

“Minor setback for a major comeback bro,” senior point guard Jalen Crutcher wrote.
