Former Dayton Flyers tight end Adam Trautman reached the end zone for the first time in his NFL career on Sunday night in Tampa Bay, Fla.

Trautman caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees in the first quarter, giving the New Orleans Saints a 14-0 lead. Brees threw four touchdown passes in a 38-3 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Saints (6-2) moved a half game in front of the Buccanners (6-3) in the NFC South Division.

Trautman caught a season-best three passes for 39 yards. He has six catches for 73 yards in seven games.

The Saints drafted Trautman with the 41st pick of the third round and the 105th overall pick in April. He was the first Dayton player drafted since 1977 and the highest-drafted player from the Pioneer Football League.

Trautman finished his college career last fall as UD’s all-time leading receiver (178 catches, 2,295 yards, 31 touchdowns).
