Dragons will open 2023 season on April 6

Dayton franchise has finished above .500 in last two seasons

The 23rd season of Dayton Dragons baseball will start on April 6, 2023.

The Dragons released the full 2023 schedule Tuesday. They open play with a three-game series against the Lake County Captains in Eastlake, Ohio.

The home opener will take place April 11 at Day Air Ballpark. The opponent will be the Great Lakes Loons. It will be the first of 66 home games in a 132-game season.

The Dragons will play 11 six-game home series in 2023. Each will take place Tuesday through Sunday. There will no Monday games in 2023. The schedule format is similar to the 2021 and 2022 schedules.

The season concludes Sept. 10 at Day Air Ballpark with a game against the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

The Dragons finished with the fourth-best record (67-61) in the Midwest League East Division this season. That followed a 65-55 finish in 2021. It’s the first time since the organization’s first three seasons (2000-02) it has posted winning records in back-to-back seasons.
