The University of Dayton named Eric Golz new women’s soccer coach on Tuesday.

Golz takes over the Dayton Flyers after two seasons as the head coach at Illinois State, which was 14-6-3 last season. Golz spent three seasons (2012-14) as an assistant coach at Maryland before getting his first head coaching job.

Prior to Maryland, he spent the 2011 season as the recruiting coordinator on Dayton coach Mike Tucker’s staff. Tucker retired after this season, his 22nd. He led the Flyers to the Atlantic 10 tournament championship. Golz is the fourth head coach in program history.

Once a Flyer, always a Flyer! Welcome back Coach Golz!

“I would like to sincerely thank Neil Sullivan, Angie Jabir and the rest of the search committee for providing me with the opportunity to come back to the Dayton family,” Golz said in a statement. “I would also like to thank coach Mike Tucker, one of my coaching mentors. The opportunity to follow in the footsteps of a coaching legend is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I know the quality of people, students and players we will develop will honor the legacy he has established.”
