The Reds took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jose Peraza hit a home run to center on the third pitch of the inning. Tucker Barnhart doubled and scored on a two-out double by Eugenio Suarez. It was the 59th RBI of the season for Suarez, who began the day tied for the National League lead.
The Brewers tied the game in the third on a two-run home run with two outs by Jesus Aguilar, but Jesse Winker answered in the bottom of the inning with a two-run home run to give the Reds a 4-2 lead.
