SPRINGFIELD’S DANNY DAVIS: First team All-Ohio D-I
A second-team All-Ohioan as a junior, Lessing was among the state scoring leaders the past two seasons. As a senior the 6-foot-1 guard averaged 28.1 points and 6.8 rebounds. He became the first player in Shelby County League history to surpass 2,000 career points, finishing with 2,223 for the Sidney-area school. That was good for No. 23 all-time among Ohio boys players.
D-I TEAMS: Boys All-Ohio basketball
Lessing shot 58 percent from the floor and converted 158 of 200 free throws (79 percent) during the regular season. Fairlawn (21-4 overall) was second in the SCL (9-3) and was defeated by league rival Jackson Center 44-41 in the Piqua sectional.
CO-PLAYERS OF YEAR: Trotwood’s Patton (D-II), Versailles’ Ahrens (D-III)
Richards was a starter on Tri-Village’s D-IV state title team in 2015. A 6-2 guard, he averaged 20.5 points, surpassed 1,000 for his career and led the Patriots (19-8) to the regional semifinals, falling to Cincinnati Christian, 49-42.
D-II TEAMS: Boys All-Ohio basketball
Wildermuth, a 6-6 center, averaged 21.3 points for Jackson Center (18-7), which lost 38-33 in overtime to Tri-Village in a district final. He was instrumental in helping the Tigers earn a state final four berth as a junior.
D-III TEAMS: Boys All-Ohio basketball
Junior Jared Jakubick of Mansfield St. Peter’s (18.3 points) was the D-IV player of the year. Adam Betten (Portsmouth Clay) and Matt Tabler (Lima Perry) were the co-coaches of the year.
D-IV TEAMS: Boys All-Ohio basketball
The All-Ohio teams were based on district teams, which were determined by state-wide media panels and forwarded to the Associated Press. Players were nominated by coaches. Divisions II and III will be announced on Tuesday and D-I and Mr. Basketball on Wednesday.
All-Ohio girls teams and Ms. Basketball were announced last week.
