Fjeldberg, a senior from Norway, was the 54th player taken overall. As a junior in 2019, he tied for the team lead with 11 goals and led the team with nine assists. The 2020 fall season was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Atlantic 10 Conference named Fjeldberg its offensive player of the year in 2019. He was named to the A-10 all-rookie team in 2017 as a freshman. In three seasons, he has 17 goals and 17 assists.

“We’re so fortunate because he is very good,” Dayton coach Dennis Currier said in March. “He’ll have a chance to play professionally after this. He’s already got some interest from MLS teams. And even if he didn’t play, he’ll have the benefit of having a degree to fall back on.”

Fjeldberg is the seventh Flyer to be selected in the MLS Super Draft and the first since 2017.

The others are: Denny Clanton (2004, fourth round, 38th overall, Chicago Fire); Chris Rolfe (2005, third round, 29th overall, Fire); Dasan Robinson (2006, supplemental round, Fire); Isaac Kissi (2010, third round, 42nd overall, Club Deportivo Chivas USA); Amass Amankona (2016, third round, 46th overall); and Lalas Abubakar (2017, first round, fifth overall, Columbus Crew).
