Another First Four has come and gone.

We had tight contests in both games pitting 16 seeds, and a big-time comeback in the last game Wednesday night.

To those who graduated on to the field of 64, we offer congratulations.

To the rest, we say, “Maybe some remedial course work is in order?”

Anyway, here are some of our favorite things from two great nights of basketball at the University of Dayton Arena.

Best mascot: Emmit S. Burg.

The Mountaineer from Mount St. Mary’s (right), takes this one easily.

The Providence Friar is too creepy, and Tommy Trojans from USC too plastic looking, but Blue Beard from New Orleans (above, left) had his moments.

Best dancer: Friar Dom

Burg also starred in the talent portion of the show as three of the games had dance-offs between the mascots, but in this one we’re going with the Providence mascot.

Dom took down the Trojan in their dance-off during a timeout, and he gets bonus points for being able to get down despite looking so creepy all the time.

Best dressed: North Carolina Central coach LeVelle Moton.

No contest.

Best pep band: North Carolina Central

This was a tough choice, but in the end we had to give it to NCCU as their thunderous brass livelied up game one on Wednesday night from pregame through the end of the Eagles’ loss.

USC brought it in the nightcap, though, as the Trojans rallied from 17 down to beat Providence.

OK, we admit we’re suckers for flattery.

The coach had great things to say about the hometown fans after they provided the atmosphere for game one Wednesday night.

That included, “And I think it’s some neutral fans here, probably just Dayton fans who just love basketball, and I think after a while they just chose a side. That’s what March Madness is about.”

Best performance: Wesley Iwundu, Kansas State

The Wildcat senior forward scored 24 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out seven assists as KSU beat Wake Forest 95-88 on Tuesday night. He also made 11 of 13 free throws.

Most likely to succeed (a.k.a. win another game): Kansas State

Sorry, Cincinnati fans, but the Bearcats may be in trouble if the Wildcats can take their hot shooting stroke with them out west.

KSU shot 66 percent Tuesday night, and Bruce Weber’s team has one more day to get ready than USC, who also plays Friday.
