Tyler Summitt resigned as the head coach from Tech in 2016. In his resignation he told the News Star of Monroe, La., “I am profoundly disappointed in myself for engaging in a relationship that has negatively affected the people I love, respect and care about the most.”
We reached out to Brooklyn and Tyler Summitt and Fairborn athletic director Kevin Alexander for comment. This story will be updated once that information is received.
A 2012 Fairborn grad, Brooklyn Summitt led the Skyhawks to consecutive Greater Western Ohio Conference South Division titles (2010-11) and a Division I sectional title (2011). She played collegiately at Marquette and Louisana Tech.

“I want to thank the Fairborn administration,” Brooklyn Summitt said in a release. “They have been doing such amazing things for this school. I feel extremely honored that they have entrusted me with this position. It is truly a blessing that I have the opportunity to give back to the program that supported me and helped me become the person I am today.
“It will be great coaching alongside my husband, Tyler Summitt.”
The release has since been removed from social media.
Tyler Summitt spent two years as an assistant coach at Marquette before being named head coach at Louisiana Tech. Summitt also spent time on his mother Pat Summitt’s staff at Tennessee.

Pat Summitt retired from coaching in 2012 after 38 seasons at Tennessee. She won 1,098 games and led the Volunteers to eight national titles. Pat Summitt died in 2016.
It was unclear if Brooklyn or Tyler Summitt will have teaching positions in the Fairborn City Schools or if they had been involved with recent coaching. Chelsey Gevedon, a former teammate of Brooklyn Summitt at Fairborn, also was named a new Skyhawks assistant coach.

Brooklyn Summitt succeeds Jim Cole – who resigned – as the Skyhawks coach. Fairborn was 11-12 overall and was runner-up in the GWOC American South (9-5) in Cole’s only season at Fairborn. He previously was the Dunbar girls basketball coach.
Fairborn will join nine other current GWOC schools to form a revised Miami Valley League to begin with 2019-20 school year.
