Former Dayton Flyers forward Josh Cunningham will return to the United States for the next step in his pro basketball career after starting his career in Europe this fall.

The Westchester Knicks, of the NBA G League, announced the signing of Cunningham on Monday.

Cunningham signed with ZZ Leiden, which plays in the first division of the Dutch Basketball League, in August. He averaged 4.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in eight games.

Cunningham, the only scholarship senior on last year’s Dayton team, scored five points in his final game in March and finished his career with 964 points in a Dayton uniform. He ranks 52nd in school history between Kevin Conrad (983) and Charles Cooke (957). Counting his one season at Bradley, he scored 1,224 points.

Cunningham’s final career field-goal percentage (63.9 percent) ranks second in UD history behind Sean Finn (64.7).

Westchester is 5-8 in the G League’s Eastern Conference. It plays in White Plains, N.Y. Its coach is Derrick Alston, who played at Duquesne from 1990-94.
