» DAYTON BASKETBALL: 2020 guard receives scholarship offer
According to Keith Smith, of Basketball.RealGm.com, Smith signed an Exhibit 10 contract. These deals, which were introduced in 2017, are one-year, non-guaranteed contracts that offer bonuses of up to $50,000 for attending training camp. If a player is waived during training camp, he can collect the bonus if he plays for the team's G League affiliate.

According ESPN's Bobby Marks, "A player waived by Oct. 17 must report to his G-League affiliate by Oct. 20 and remain there for at least 60 days to receive the bonus (in addition to the G-League salary)."
After starting his career in Australia last summer, Smith returned to Ohio to play for the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers’ affiliate in the NBA G-League. He averaged 14.3 points, 8.1 assists and 4.3 rebounds. He shot 51.9 percent from the floor and 52.3 percent from 3-point range. He had his best game — 26 points and 10 assists — in the final game March 23.
In the Las Vegas Summer League, Smith averaged 8.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 16.9 minutes per game. His role grew as the Cavaliers advanced past the preliminary round into the Summer League tournament.
