Former Hamilton star signs NIL deal with Powerade

Kaleb Johnson begins his sophomore season at Iowa on Saturday

Hamilton High School graduate Kaleb Johnson, a sophomore running back at Iowa, is one of five college football players to sign a recent endorsement deal with Powerade.

In a video advertisement Johnson shared last week on X, formerly known as Twitter, Johnson is shown drinking blue Powerade and running over a defender in his Iowa uniform. The ad campaign is titled, “It Takes More.”

Johnson set an Iowa freshman record by running for 779 yards last season. He gained 200 yards, the 18th-highest single-game total in school history, in a victory against Purdue. He’s listed as the starting running back on Iowa’s depth chart for the season opener against Utah State on Saturday.

Florida State defensive end Jared Verse, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, Georgia cornerback Malaki Starks and USC wide receiver Mario Williams also signed deals with Powerade. The ads will start airing Sept. 3, according to the Sports Business Journal.
