An announced crowd of 61,102 saw things heat up after a scoreless first quarter.
A turnover fittingly set up the first score of the day as Amir Riep batted a pass to himself for a nice interception he returned to the 20-yard line.
Three plays later, Master Teague scored from a yard out for the first points of the game, but the offenses were just getting started.
A little more than two minutes later, Garrett Wilson grabbed a pass from high school teammate Baldwin out of the air in the end zone for an 18-yard score that showed why Wilson was a highly coveted recruit.

With a little more than four minutes to go, Fields capped a 65-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run for the Gray, but that was just a prelude to the biggest moment of the sophomore quarterback’s Ohio Stadium debut.
With 1:55 to go in the half, Fields and the Gray team got the ball at the 2-yard line. It was a chance to show their proficiency in the two-minute drill, but instead they just went for it all in one play.
Facing third-and-10, Fields let go a deep ball for Binjimen Victor, who leapt hit and grabbed it over a diving Lloyd McFarquhar then sprinted the rest of the way unscathed for a 98-yard score.

Matthew Baldwin, the other quarterback competitor, got in on the action with an 8-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Saunders, and the Blake Haubeil concluded the scoring in the first half with a 23-yard field goal as time expired.
The quarterbacks took turns leading the Gray team, which was comprised of the first team offense. Baldwin also took snaps with the Scarlet along with senior Chris Chugunov and freshman Daniel Vanatsky.
To start the third quarter, Baldwin led the Scarlet 65 yards for a touchdown drive capped by Marcus Crowley’s 2-yard touchdown run.
The Gray came right back with a 65-yard scoring drive of its own that included a 30-yard run by Fields. Teague swept around left end for 22 yards and a touchdown to make it 35-17.
