GWOC football champs, playoff projections

Here’s a look at Greater Western Ohio Conference high school football for Week 10, the end of the regular season.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association will release first-round playoff pairings on Sunday afternoon. The top eight teams in the final computer rankings qualify for the playoffs. Those top four will host first-round games.

GWOC American title: Springfield (8-1, 4-0) won an outright championship after sharing the GWOC National East title with Wayne last season.

GWOC National title: Springboro (8-1, 4-0) won by outright championship by beating runner-up Trotwood-Madison 28-25 in Week 8.

Playoff fact: All but Lebanon (D-I, Region 4) and Trotwood (D-III, Region 12) are lumped in D-I, Region 2.

Who's in: Springfield has clinched and will secure a first-round home game by beating Trotwood in Week 10. Trotwood (7-2) also has clinched and likely will have to beat Springfield to host a first-round game.

Win and in: Northmont (5-4) is at Wayne (3-6) and will make the D-I, Region 2 cut regardless of this outcome, although it will be a low seed. Wayne has a slim shot at advancing with a win.

Bubble team: Centerville (4-5) must defeat visiting Springboro to crack the D-I, Region 2 field.

Who's out: Beavercreek (2-7), Fairmont (3-6), Lebanon (3-6) and Miamisburg (2-7).
