His roster addition coincides with Dragons pitcher Tyler Mondile being placed on the suspended list on Monday for a violation of team rules, confirmed Reds player development director Jeff Graupe.
McGuff, 24, was Hamilton’s MVP as a senior in 2013 and before that a standout in the prestigious Hamilton West Side Little League program. A 6-foot-2, 200-pound lefty, he pitched at Sinclair for two seasons in 2013-14 and concluded his collegiate career at Morehead State in the 2015-16 seasons. The Twins drafted him in 2016.

Mondile (2-5, 6.51 ERA) last pitched for the Dragons on July 3. He lasted five innings, allowed seven hits and three earned runs and was tagged with a 3-2 loss at Lake County. Duration of his suspension was not announced.
