High school football: Area players picked for Ohio North-South All-Star Classic

Three players from Division I state runner-up Springfield are among the area’s representatives in the 2022 Ohio North-South All-Star Classics.

Quarterback Te’Sean Smoot and defensive linemen Jokell Brown and Tywan January are set to represent Springfield in April when the games featuring players from Divisions 1-3 and 4-7 are played at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon on April 30.

Ohio’s high school all-star game began in 1946 and is the oldest in the country according to the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association.

Here is a full list of the players from the area picked for the rosters of the games, which are broken into two categories.

Division 1-3 South Team

Springfield quarterback Te’Sean Smoot, Wayne receiver Brian Kinley, Chaminade Julienne receiver Kenyon Owens, Centerville receiver Cam Smith, Lakota East tight end Charlie Kenrich, Fairfield offensive linemen Hendrix Goodman and Augie Groh, Springfield defensive linemen Jokell Brown and Tywan January, Bellbrook linebacker Ashton Ault, Piqua defensive back Jasiah Medley, Miamisburg defensive back Corwyn Hurt and Tippecanoe defensive back Jason Rindler.

Assistants: Matt Burgbacher of Tippecanoe and Brent Ullery of Centerville

Divisions 4-7 South Team

Coldwater receiver Tyler Schwieterman, Mechanicsburg receiver Jake Hurst, Kenton Ridge offensive lineman Noah Hill, Coldwater kicker/punter Jesse Meyer
