The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Wheelock is ranked 31st among all players in Ohio for the class of 2024 and the No. 55 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Wheelock is fourth among area players on the overall list, trailing Springfield cornerback Aaron Scott Jr. (No. 2 in Ohio), Centerville defensive back Reggie Powers (19) and Trotwood-Madison quarterback Tim Carpenter (21).
Wheelock is the first player to commit to Cincinnati and new head coach Scott Satterfield for 2024.
He is also the first local player to commit to a Power 5 conference school this year and on track to be the second player from Stebbins in as many years to sign with an NCAA FBS school.
Receiver Adrian Norton signed with Akron in December.
