Longtime Carroll girls basketball coach Rob Berry dies at 64

Carroll High School is mourning the death of longtime girls basketball coach Rob Berry. Berry, who led the Patriots to 260 wins in the last 14 seasons, lost his battle with cancer Thursday morning. He was 64.

Berry’s teams won four Mid-Miami League titles, three Greater Catholic League championships and seven district crowns. He led the Patriots to the Division II state championship game in 2011, losing to Hathaway Brown 54-51.

Berry coached all of last season while battling brain cancer. Carroll released the following statement today:

“The entire Carroll High School community mourns the loss of Coach Berry. Our prayers are with his family, current players, and for the many women who were fortunate enough to play for him throughout his coaching career.”
