“After having a deep conversation and reconsidering my commitment, my family and I feel as if it’s best I re-open my recruitment as of now,” he wrote on Twitter. “I would like to thank coach (Josh) Gattis and coach (Jim) Harbaugh and the Michigan football staff for giving me the opportunity, but at this time I will be re-opening my recruitment all the way back up.”

Allen, who began his high school career at Xenia, leads the GWOC with 170 yards receiving through two games.
He opened the season by catching the game-winning touchdown pass in the closing seconds against Springboro.
Last season, he finished second in the league with 999 yards receiving in the regular season. He added 88 receiving yards in the T’Bolts' playoff loss to Toledo Whitmer.
His fellow Thunderbolt, safety Rod Moore, remains committed to Michigan and shared Allen’s announcement with on Twitter.
Moore added, “Respect,” with a raised fist emoji and, “All love. Decisions,” with a heart emoji.
Michigan’s 2021 recruiting class is 11th nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Moore is now the only Ohioan.
Allen is the No. 14 prospect in the state, one spot behind Moore.
They are the highest-rated recruits in the senior class in the Dayton area.
C.J. Hicks, a junior at Alter who is verbally committed to Ohio State, shared Allen’s announcement and added, “BIA brother lets go” with a symbol of a nut and a fist.
“BIA” stands for “Best in American” and is a tag line Ohio State has given its secondary.
Allen responded, “We’ll talk,” to Hicks' message.
Northmont has a history of sending players to both sides of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.
Gabe Newburg is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman for the Wolverines while Kurt Coleman and C.J. Barnett were both starting defensive backs for the Buckeyes in the past 15 years and linebacker Kaleb Ringer was a member of Michigan’s 2012 recruiting class.
