Springboro grad wins Big Ten weekly award

Springboro High School graduate Charlie Kuhbander, a senior kicker at Northwestern, was named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Kuhbander made three field goals (43, 23 and 43 yards) in a 43-3 season-opening victory on Saturday against Maryland. He also made all four of his point-after attempts.

This is the second time Kuhbander has won the weekly award in his career. He was also honored on Oct. 16, 2017.

Kuhbander has made 31 of 42 field goals in his career and 92 of 94 extra points.

Kuhbander committed to Northwestern in August of 2016. He was ranked the No. 3 kicker in the nation by Kohl’s Kicking. He owns the Ohio high school record with 305 career kicking points (36 field goals, 197 extra points).
