Trotwood-Madison High School graduate Torrey Patton announced Friday he will return to Cleveland State for the 2021-22 season.

“Run it back!” Patton wrote on Twitter.

It will be the fifth season in college basketball for Patton, a 6-foot-5 guard who led the Vikings with 14.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game last season. The NCAA didn’t count the 2020-21 season against anyone’s eligibility because of the uncertainty created by the pandemic, giving seniors the option of returning for an extra year.

Patton, who graduated from high school in 2017, started his career at Akron. He then spent a season at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. He played the last two seasons at Cleveland State.

Cleveland State finished 19-8 last season and won the Horizon League tournament to earn its first NCAA tournament berth since 2009. Patton, an All-Horizon League first-team selection, was named MVP of the tournament.

The Vikings then lost 87-56 to Houston in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
