Chase Johnson scored a career-high 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting. Obi Toppin had 17 points and 10 rebounds despite sitting most of the last 10 minutes.
Trey Landers scored a season-high 16 points. Jalen Crutcher and Ibi Watson each had 12. Rodney Chatman led the team with seven assists.

Jordy Tshimanga, who missed the first three home games with a knee injury, had eight points and five rebounds in his first game at UD Arena.
Dayton shot 59 percent from the field and held Houston Baptist (0-6) to 39 percent shooting.
The Flyers return to action at 4 p.m. Sunday against Saint Mary’s in Phoenix.

HALFTIME RECAP
Toppin scored 13 points to lead the Flyers to a 49-42 halftime lead.
In their first game since the Maui Invitational last week, the Flyers got off to a slow start against one of the nation’s last winless teams. Houston Baptist led 20-11 at the 14:11 mark.

Dayton trailed 35-30 when it took control with a 10-0 run. Jhery Matos hit two 3-pointers in that stretch.
Each team shot 56 percent from the field in the first half. Houston Baptist made 5 of 8 3-pointers.

Jalon Gates, who entered the game with a 17.8 scoring average, scored 16 in the half for the Huskies.
Tshimanga made his UD Arena debut and appeared in his third Dayton game. He had four points in the half.
