After an extra day of waiting, the Cincinnati Reds are set to open the 2018 season Friday afternoon against the Washington Nationals.

The Reds are looking to end a stretch of three consecutive seasons finishing in last place, and the opening series is not going to make a strong start easy.

The Nationals are among the favorites to win the National League pennant.

Their ace, Max Sherzer, is scheduled to start while the Reds will counter with Homer Bailey.

For Bailey, this will be the first Opening Day start of his career.
