Ranking the football teams has been challenging because there have been a number of games cancelled each week. Do you move teams up or down or keep them where they are if they don’t play? I’ve gone back and forth on that question but have tried to stay consistent.
It’s the same this season with college basketball. I compiled my preseason poll a few weeks ago. Several teams in my top 25 did not play in the first five days of the regular season. I chose to keep those teams in the same spots for now.
Today the first poll of the regular season comes out. Two Atlantic 10 Conference teams had strong showings last week with Richmond earning a major bump by winning at Kentucky and Saint Louis moving into my top 25 by beating LSU. The Big Ten has looked good early, too, and dominates my top 10.
