Kelley Austria reaches career scoring milestone in Dayton victory

Senior guard is 24th player in UD history to score 1,000 points

Dayton Flyers senior guard Kelley Austria hit the 1,000-point milestone Tuesday in a 75-64 victory against Duquesne at the Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh. With 18 points, she became the 24th player in school history to score 1,000 in her career.

Austria, a Carroll High School graduate, is averaging a career-best 11.7 points per game. She has 1,005 points in her career. In recent weeks, she passed Janice Roberts (967, 1991-95) and Julie Arnold (975, 1989-93). She is eight points behind Kizzy Dawson (1995-99) and 23 behind Nikki Oakland (2004-08).

The Flyers (10-7, 4-1) have won four straight games. At her current scoring pace, Austria is on track to rank 22nd in UD history when the regular season ends. She would be right behind former teammate Amber Deane (1,194, 2012-16).

Dayton returns to action at noon Sunday at Saint Louis (13-3, 3-0).
