While he has been racking up regional wins, Kretzer will also have a chance to earn another national title as he will compete in the PBA50 Spectrum Lanes Open in Wyoming, Michigan in late July. Kretzer won his first PBA50 Tour title in August 2018.
• Brainy bowlers: The Duquesne women's bowling team – which finished the season ranked No. 20 nationally – earned its third consecutive National Tenpin Coaches Association All-Academic Team Award for its 3.601 team grade point average. The Duquesne women posted the third-highest team GPA in the country, trailing only Virginia State (3.643) and Adelphi (3.615).
Two local bowlers earned a share of the academic accolades as Megan Cook and Jessica Sacks were among the 256 bowlers honored by the NTCA for posting individual GPAs of 3.4 or higher for the 2018-19 academic year.
• Mark your calendar: The Greater Dayton United States Bowling Congress adult banquet is slated for Aug. 1 at the Presidential Banquet Center. Cocktail hour begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and Hall of Fame inductions and award presentations immediately following. All GDUSBC members are invited.

• Bowl for a cause: The 36th Annual 9-Pin No-Tap Charity Challenge Bowling Tournament, benefiting Dayton Children's, gets underway on Aug. 3 at Beaver-Vu Bowl. Beaver-Vu will host tournament shifts Aug. 3-5 and tournament play moves to Pla-Mor Aug. 8-10 with the finals on Aug. 11.
