On BracketMatrix.com, as of Wednesday morning, only nine of the 145 brackets had Dayton (29-2) as a No. 2 or No. 3 seed. Every other bracket predicted Dayton will get a No. 1 seed along with Kansas, Butler and Gonzaga.

Dayton earned its highest seed in 2003, losing as a No. 4 seed 84-71 to Tulsa in the first round. It was a No. 11 seed twice (2014 and 2015) in the Archie Miller Era and a No. 7 seed twice (2016 and 2017). Dayton is 0-3 as a higher seed, losing in the first round in 2003 and 2016 (to Syracuse in Saint Louis) and 2017 (to Wichita State in Indianapolis).

Dayton may have to win the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament to stay ahead of San Diego (30-2) in the race for the last No. 1 seed.
