Middletown grad Vincent Edwards played a large role in Purdue’s 80-70 win over Vermont in the first round of the NCAA tournament Thursday night.

Edwards scored a game-high 21 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the field.

He also grabbed five rebounds and handed out three assists.

The junior also blocked two shots.

Edwards is averaging 19.7 points per game in three career NCAA tournament games and needs four assists to become the second player in Purdue history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists.
