Those four teams advanced to the semifinals with victories Monday at the Lahaina Civic Center. An 80-61 victory over Georgia put Dayton in the position of getting three games against teams ranked in the top 70 of the Ken Pomeroy ratings.

Georgia ranks 70th. Virginia Tech is 29th. Kansas is No. 8, and BYU is 68th.

“That’s exactly what we want,” Dayton forward Ryan Mikesell said. “Going into this tournament, we hoped for three opportunities for building our resume, and we’re ready for it.”
