The Mid-American Conference will induct Miami RedHawks basketball great Wally Szczerbiak into its hall of fame, it announced Monday.

Szczerbiak played for Miami from 1996-99 and ranks second in school history and 24th in MAC history with 1,847 points. Miami retired his number in 2001, and he joined Miami’s Hall of Fame in 2009.

Szczerbiak joins five other MAC greats in the 2020 class: Stevi Large Gruber (Akron, women’s track & field); Bryan Bullington (Ball State, baseball); Margo Jonker (Central Michigan, softball); Ellen Herman-Kimball (Ohio, volleyball); and Briana Shook (Toledo, women’s track & field).

“We have such a storied history within our conference and it is important to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of our former students, coaches and administrators, specifically these six individuals, and their achievements during their time competing in the Mid-American Conference,” said MAC Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher in a press release. “We are honored to welcome this year’s class to the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame.”
