A moment fans of the Dayton Flyers have waited months for — if not decades — began with two words they hate to hear: “Dayton University.”

That’s how NBA Commissioner Adam Silver referred to the University of Dayton as he announced the New York Knicks had drafted UD’s Obi Toppin with the No. 8 pick in the NBA Draft on Wednesday.

Basketball recruits considering Dayton make the “Dayton University” mistake often. Dayton fans didn’t expect to hear it from the NBA Commissioner, judging by their reactions on Twitter.
