Obi Toppin broke down in tears when the New York Knicks selected him with the No. 8 pick of the NBA Draft on Wednesday.

On Twitter, Dayton fans, media members, celebrities and others had all sorts of reactions. Most were thrilled to see the former Dayton Flyers star Toppin become the highest-drafted Dayton player since Jim Paxson Sr., who was picked third in 1956. Others, of course, sent condolences because Toppin joins a franchise that has suffered seven straight losing seasons.

Here’s are a few highlights from Twitter.
