Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett shares Chicago Tribune Silver Football honor

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has been named co-MVP of the Big Ten.

Barrett and Penn State running back Saquon Barkley were announced as the winners of the Chicago Tribune Silver Football on Thursday.

Four out of five seasons Urban Meyer has coached the Buckeyes, Ohio State has had a player win at least a share of the prestigious award.

Wayne graduate Braxton Miller won it in 2012 and ’13 while Ezekiel Elliott won it last year.

In all, 19 Ohio State players have won it.

The last time there was a split winner was 2009, when Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark and Michigan defensive lineman Brandon Graham shared it.
