He was named the most valuable defensive player of the Buckeyes’ upset of Miami (Fla.) in the Fiesta Bowl that season when his interception of Ken Dorsey set up Ohio State’s first touchdown.
Doss was the 2002 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and has the most tackles in school history by a defensive back (331).

He is one of 14 Ohio State players to win a national championship and the Super Bowl, having been on the roster for the Colts when they won Super Bowl XLI.
Doss, whose decision to return for a fourth year in Columbus is viewed as one of the key moments in the championship run, was a star at Canton McKinley High School before being one of the top recruits in coach John Cooper’s 1999 recruiting class.
In December, he will become the 27th Ohio State football player to be inducted into the CFB HOF as a player and just the second full-time defense back, joining Jack Tatum in the latter category.
Dayton native Keith Byars is the mostrecent inductee from Ohio State to the CFB HOF. He was part of the 2020 class.
