Ohio State scored a big-time recruiting win Sunday with the verbal commitment of James Peoples.

A four-star recruit from San Antonio Veterans Memorial High School, Peoples is the 69th overall recruit in 247Sports Composite national rankings and the No. 5 running back in the country.

“I wanted to thank my family, coaches and friends for supporting me through this entire process,” he posted in a Twitter message. “I wanted to also thank all the universities who have recruited me. With that being said, I will be committing to the University of Ohio State!”

Peoples is the seventh player to commit to Ohio State for 2024, and the group moved up to No. 5 in the national rankings when he was added.

The 5-foot-10, 192-pounder’s choice continues a string of successes in the Lone Star State.

Ohio State has signed 19 players from Texas since 2013 after landing only six in the 20 classes before that.
