Aubrey Solomon was the second player to change his mind (at least for now), posting on Twitter he wanted to give other recruiters the chance to get to know him.
Subsequently, 247Sports reported the Leesburg, Ga., defensive tackle changed his mind after his mother received a card thanking him for attending a recruiting event he never went to.
As social media poked fun at Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff for such a misstep, it brought to mind an alleged mistake former Ohio State coach John Cooper made with a player from the Miami Valley.
Curtis Enis was a phenomenon at Mississinawa Valley in the early 1990s who later starred at Penn State.
Why didn't the bruising running back stay closer to home and go to Ohio State? Cooper told reporters prior to the Buckeyes' 38-7 shellacking of the Nittany Lions in 1996, "Curtis Enis never gave us the time of day."
But Enis had a different version. He was turned off by recruiting letters that referred to him as “Chris.”
Anyway, back to Michigan. The third player in 24 hours to jump ship did so Tuesday morning.
Jalil Irvin, a four-star offensive lineman also from Georgia, Tweeted that Michigan remains in his top five, but he feels the need to “reevaluate things.”
Taylor and Irvin are both 2018 prospects while Solomon is a four-star senior (class of ’17) this fall.
Michigan’s 2018 class still consists of two players – Antwuan Johnson of Dayton Dunbar (formerly a teammate of Taylor’s at Springfield) and Otis Reese, a Leesburg teammate of Solomon.
