Ohio State finds offensive line help in transfer portal

Cutler was a 247 Sports composite two-star recruit coming out of West Monroe, La., in the class of 2019.

His other offers were Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Grambling and Southern, but he told ElevenWarriors.com he had interest from Penn State, Mississippi, Oklahoma State and Louisville after entering the portal.

A veteran of 29 college games, he was the Warhawks’ left tackle last season but has experience at center and right tackle as well.

He told 247Sports that Ohio State “just felt like the right fit for me to come in and compete for the starting spot and help me get to the NFL. I’m going to be at center.”

That spot came up last week when two-year starter Luke Wypler declared he is entering the NFL Draft with two years of eligibility remaining.

With tackles Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones also heading to the NFL, Ohio State appeared to be in need of some help up front.

The Buckeyes offered multiple tackle prospects in the first month after the transfer portal opened, but all went elsewhere.

Although another wave of players figure to enter the transfer portal after spring practice, Ohio State’s best bets for finding new starters on the outside may already be on the roster.

Starting left guard Donovan Jackson has cross trained at tackle, and sixth-man Josh Fryar started in place of an injured Jones last season when the Buckeyes played host to Indiana.

A handful of youngsters are also waiting in the wings for a chance.
