Ohio State football fans planning for 2022 now can cross out two dates on the calendar.

The Buckeyes will play host to Toledo on Sept. 17, 2022, the school announced Thursday.

That comes after a previously announced game against Notre Dame set for Sept. 3 at Ohio Stadium.

The Buckeyes and Rockets have played three times in the past.

Top-ranked Ohio State topped Toledo 49-0 in 1998 to start the series and won a 2009 matchup in Cleveland 38-0.

In 2011, Toledo gave Ohio State a scare, but the Buckeyes prevailed 27-22.

Ohio State has not lost to an in-state opponent since 1921 when Oberlin beat the Buckeyes 7-6. Ohio State and Wooster tied 7-7 in a game three years later.

The Buckeyes’ only loss to a team from the MAC came in 1896 against Akron.
