Justin Scott, the eighth-ranked prospect in the class of 2024 and the second-ranked defensive lineman, according to Rivals.com, announced his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday.

Scott is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound defensive tackle. He’ll be a senior at at St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago.

Scott chose Ohio State over Michigan, Georgia, Miami and Notre Dame.

Scott told On3.com his family was set on him committing to Michigan before he sat down with Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson.

“Compared to the other defensive line coaches that were in my top 5, his resume was far superior,” Scott said, “And just the stability he had there, he’s been there for 10 years.”

Ohio State now has 17 commitments in the 2024 class. Scott is the second five-star recruit from the class to commit to the Buckeyes. The other is Jeremiah Smith, a wide receiver from Hollywood, Fla., who committed in December.

Rivals.com ranks Ohio State’s class second behind Georgia, the only other school with two five-star 2024 recruits.

ESPN ranks Scott 34th in the 2024 class and fourth among defensive tackles. Scott first visited Ohio State during a game against Rutgers last season and was also on campus in June.

“Their stadium was probably one of the biggest ones I’ve seen out of all my visits,” Scott told ESPN in January. “Even though they played Rutgers, which was kind of a predicted blowout, the stands were still filled. Everybody just showed love.”
