The new basketball rule affects only boys and girls varsity postseason tournament games, beginning at the sectional level and only in the second half. A running clock will be used when there is a 35-point differential. After that, normal clock usage will be implemented when the margin is less than 30 points.
The OHSAA instituted a second-half running clock rule for all football games in the 2014 season. The running clock is used to curb lopsided outcomes.
Friday, Oct. 27, is the first day of girls basketball practice. That season begins on Friday, Nov. 24.
Boys basketball preseason practice begins on Friday, Nov., 3. The boys season starts on Thursday, Nov. 30.
