The Reds announced the lineup Wednesday, a little less than 24 hours before they start the season against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 4:10 p.m. Thursday at Great American Ball Park. Here’s the starting nine:

1. Jesse Winker, left field: He's hitting lead-off in the opener for the second straight year.

2. Joey Votto, first base: He'll be making his 11th straight Opening Day start.

3. Yasiel Puig, right field: The Reds acquired Puig from the Los Angeles Dodgers in December, along with outfielder Matt Kemp and pitcher Alex Wood.

4. Eugenio Suarez, third base: This will be his fourth straight Opening Day start.

5. Scott Schebler, center field: It will be his third straight start in the opener.

6. Jose Peraza, second base: He'll also be making his straight start.

7. Tucker Barnhart, catcher: Barnhart joins Schebler and Peraza in making his third straight start.

8. Jose Iglesias, shortstop: He signed with the Reds in February and gets the start after Scooter Gennett injured his groin last week. That forced the Reds to move Peraza to second base.

9. Luis Castillo, starting pitcher: He's the fifth straight different Opening Day starter for the Reds. Homer Bailey started last season.
