Opening Day: Winker will lead off 2021 season for Reds

Jesse Winker will lead off and play left field for the Cincinnati Reds, who announced their Opening Day lineup on Thursday morning.

It will be the third Opening Day start for Winker in the last four years. He has hit first in the order each time.

Following Winker in the order are:

2. Nick Castellanos, right field: He will make his second straight Opening Day start for the Reds.

3. Joey Votto, first base: This will be Votto’s 13th straight start in the opener.

4. Eugenio Suarez, shortstop: He will make his sixth straight Opening Day start and first at shortstop. He started the last five years at third base.

5. Mike Moustakas, third base: After starting at second base last season on his first Opening Day in Cincinnati, he will move across the infield.

6. Nick Senzel, center field: He will make his second straight Opening Day start in center.

7. Tucker Barnhart, catcher: This will be his fourth start in the opener in the last five years. Curt Casali started at catcher last season.

8. Jonathan India, second base: The fifth overall pick in the 2018 draft will make his big-league debut.

9. Luis Castillo, pitcher: This will be his second Opening Day start.
