Official visit season is here for college football prospects across the country.

That means seniors Aaron Scott Jr. of Springfield was in Oregon over the weekend while teammate Da’Shawn Martin made a trip to Kent State.

For his part, Scott offered a glimpse at the red carpet the Ducks rolled out for a cornerback who is one of the top-rated prospects in the country.

Scott is still considering five schools — Oregon, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State and Tennessee — and previously told Rivals.com he will make an official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend then go to Columbus on June 23-25.

Another area defensive back with an Ohio State offer, Reggie Powers III of Centerville, is also making official visits this month.

He went to Michigan State after making an official visit to Pitt the previous weekend.

Powers, who is also planning to visit Ohio State on June 23, has a final five of MSU, Pitt, OSU, Cincinnati and Northwestern.

Here are some other notable visits in the past week:

  • Ohio State held its first of several one-day camps last week, and there was a large group of players from the Miami Valley on hand. The one who generated the most buzz was Dorian Brew, a junior receiver/defensive back from Northmont who could be one of the top prospects in the country in the class of 2025.
  • Trotwood-Madison, where former Buckeye Jeff Graham is the head coach, also took Columbus by storm with a group of more than two dozen players. That included junior DB Jahmale Clark and sophomore DB/WR Armani Rogers.
  • Also among those working out for Ohio State coaches last week were sophomores Shawn Fishwick of Xenia and Cole Albers of Minster.
  • Highly regarded quarterback Tavien St. Clair, a junior from Bellefontaine, made a southern swing through LSU, Alabama and Mississippi State.
  • Lakota East junior quarterback Jamison Kitna camped at West Virginia last week then made a trip to Houston over the weekend.
  • Springfield senior defensive back Jayvin Martin visited Central Michigan, and teammate Jackson Heims (a junior defensive end) went to Appalachian State.
  • Dunbar junior defensive back Baron White camped at Bowling Green while Wolverines senior running back Dai’Vontay Young went to Iowa State.
  • Miami University also played host to a big group of players last week, including Centerville teammates Drake Wells and Bryce Cowgill, Springfield receiver Duncan Bradley III, Thurgood Marshall running back Amare Lattimore and Lakota West teammates Cole Mundy and Joe Marquardt.
  • Trey Verdon of Hamilton went to North Carolina, and Lakota West’s Elijah Davis visited Virginia.
  • Many local players announced plans to visit Purdue on Monday, including Fairfield’s Noah King, Daniel Kamara of Centerville and Lakota West teammates Grant Beerman (junior) and Cam Thomas (sophomore).

These players reported getting new offers:

  • Purdue offered Wayne juniors Teaunn Hunter, Jussiah Williams and Kamaurri Smith.
  • Cincinnati offered Cedric Works Jr., a junior defensive end/linebacker from Northmont.
  • West Virginia and Miami (Ohio) offered Fairfield junior Noah King.
  • Ball State offered Springboro senior DB/WR Will Yates and Trotwood sophomore defensive lineman Jamarcus Whyce.
  • Bowling Green offered Taebron Bennie-Powell, a senior running back/defensive back from Lakota West, and Louisville offered Luka Gilbert, a junior tight end for the Firebirds.
