Johnson, 25, split time last season between Double-A and Triple-A. He made 26 total starts and finished 7-13 with 4.06 ERA. Johnson was 23rd-round pick by the Giants in 2014 out of Cal State Northridge.

The Reds picked Joe in December’s Rule 5 Draft. He was hitting .275 this spring in 40 at-bats.

Cincinnati’s 40-man roster and spring training camp roster both are at 39 players.
