Shrock was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 13th round in 2015. He was traded to the Oakland A’s in 2016 and then to the Cardinals in 2017. The Cubs claimed him off waivers in October and then designated him for assignment.
The Reds made one other roster move Wednesday, signing right-handed pitcher Braden Shipley to a minor-league contract and inviting him to major league spring training camp.

Shipley, 28, last appeared in the big leagues in 2018 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2019, he made 15 starts and 15 relief appearances with Triple-A Reno and had a 5.95 ERA.
