Reds announce roster moves, pitching rotation in advance of Opening Day

DeSclafani put on 60-day disabled list; Iglesias on paternity list

The Cincinnati Reds made a number of roster moves and finalized their pitching plans for the first five games Thursday, one day before the Opening Day game against the Washington Nationals at Great American Ball Park.

Injury news: The Reds put starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani on the 60-day disabled list (left oblique strain).

Four pitchers were placed on the 10-day disabled list: starting pitcher Brandon Finnegan (left biceps strain); and relievers David Hernandez (right shoulder inflammation), Michael Lorenzen (right shoulder strain) and Kevin Shackelford (right forearm strain).

Short absence: Closer Raisel Iglesias was placed on the three-day paternity list.

Promotions: The Reds recalled pitchers Cody Reed and Jackson Stephens and infielder/outfielder Cliff Pennington from Triple-A Louisville.

Rotation: The Reds announced Tyler Mahle and Reed will start the third and fourth games of the season Monday and Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs.
